This cavalier attitude, coupled with his priceless inventions, led to the creation of Noble Industries, which became the foundation for the Noble family's fortune.
A few years into his super-hero career, Doc met Gaia, a recent transplant from a magical world, and after a whirlwind romance, the two were married in a very public ceremony. Gaia's savvy public relations skills turned Doc's industrial empire into a worldwide media empire, and the family hasn't left the public spotlight since.
Together they had three children: Rusty, Race, and Zephyr, but Doc always felt more comfortable around Icarus, his robot assistant. His preferential treatment of Icarus was always a hot topic amongst the Noble children, but Doc always brushed off their concerns...until Icarus went mad, attacking Doc's ''other'' children. Doc eventually destroyed Icarus.
Doc learned a thing or two about being a better parent when his mind was switched with that of Steven Dockerty, a mentally unbalanced man who was obsessed with Gaia. Dockerty occupied Doc's body while Doc was trapped in Dockerty's body, which was imprisoned in a mental hospital. Doc eventually escaped and was able to reverse the process, but was horrified to learn that Gaia seemed to prefer Dockerty in some respects. This led to Doc becoming more emotionally available.
Approximately five years ago, Doc's world came tumbling down when he learned that Gaia had created a monster for the Nobles to fight in order to win public favor. The monster proved more powerful than Gaia had anticipated, and innocent lives were lost. Fearing what the public might think, Gaia kept her involvement hidden, and even induced amnesia in Liz when she realized Liz had witnessed her involvement. As Doc worked to restore Liz's memory, Gaia secretly worked to suppress it. When this finally came to light, Doc was devastated by the actions his wife had taken. He began to wonder if he ever truly knew her. Gaia tried to make things right by turning herself in and serving a prison sentence, but at some point during the past five years, the couple divorced.
Doc has since married Olympia, and has adopted her two teenage super-powered children, Surge and Minutiae. Whereas Gaia used to run the family, Doc has taken the reins and the result is a more pro-active family of crime-fighters. Doc has relocated the family to an island in an undisclosed location in the South Pacific, from which they respond to threats worldwide.
KNOWN SUPERHUMAN POWERS:
Doc possesses no known superhuman powers, but his IQ is nearly off the charts.
WEAPONS:
Doc carries with him an arsenal of advanced weaponry, including everything from ray guns to jet packs to hologram projectors. Doc's careful to always include a few raw parts, so that he can adapt and upgrade existing weapons on the fly.
SKILLS:
Doc is a brilliant inventor, and can improve the functionality of nearly any mechanical devise he encounters. He's also a skilled boxer.
